Chami Dissanayake

Kindergarten Teacher/ Educational leader

My name is Chami Dissanayake and I am the Kindergarten teacher/ educational Leader at Green Kids early learning Hampton Park. I am a fully registered early childhood teacher with bachelors of early childhood education and I have been working in the industry four years. My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that children are inherently capable and competent individuals, each possessing unique abilities and strengths. Therefore, as an early childhood Teacher, my primary focus is on nurturing their holistic development to unlock and cultivate their potential. I firmly believe that the formative early years lay the groundwork for future education, making it crucial to provide enriching opportunities for learning and growth during this pivotal stage. Central to my philosophy is the importance of establishing respectful and collaborative relationships with children’s families, recognising parents as their first teachers. By fostering strong partnerships with families, I aim to provide comprehensive support for children’s development and learning, ensuring continuity and coherence between home and school environments. Moreover, I view the learning environment as a crucial element in a child’s educational journey, often referred to as the “third teacher.” By creating environments that promote active engagement and exploration, I encourage children to express themselves, develop critical skills, and celebrate diversity through play-based learning and meaningful interactions.
